How to spot a kiss sculpture in Melbourne
Metal Yard Stages has been working on a new installation called ‘The Kiss’, a sculpture of a woman in an ornate dress, surrounded by an array of metal works.
Metal Yard Stamps is a group of artists and sculptors that have collaborated on this piece for over a year.
Artist Mark Storch said it was important to highlight that this was a personal piece, but that it was also about representation.
“The kiss is about the beauty of art and the love between two people,” Mr Storcl told News24.
The artist said the idea was to highlight the work of artists who had a deep connection to the land.
“When I see these pieces of art that represent this beautiful land, I just feel so honoured and so honoured that people have chosen to make that connection,” he said.
“I just want to give people an insight into this beautiful landscape that we’re living in.”
The artist says the piece is also about the relationship between a woman and the landscape, with each piece representing a different part of the world.
Mr Storchel said the project started when he was in the middle of a project where he wanted to use a landscape in Melbourne as an opportunity to create something more unique and artistic.
He said he began by photographing the landscape as a way to create a relationship with the landscape.
“My idea was that you’d see the landscape and then you’d think about the relationships between people and the things they’re doing and the nature they’re looking at,” he told News18.
While Mr Storrch said he did not know how long he would be able to do this work, he hoped to finish it by the end of the year.
“There’s a lot of people in Melbourne that have an interest in this landscape and they just love to explore and to make their own connections to it and the people that live there,” he explained.
“That’s something that I’ve tried to really create for this year.”
Metal Yards is currently working on two other pieces.
